Over the past year or so, I’ve been trying a couple of different tank top patterns. The summers can get pretty warm in Portugal, and there’s no air conditioning, so I have really enjoyed having tank tops that I can easily put on to stay cool.
I’m subscribed to Allie Olson’s emails and always love seeing her sewing/pattern and life updates. One of her emails said that she was ending the sales of her paper patterns, and they were $7. With how much PDF patterns cost, plus the printing cost, $7 is a steal. So, I sent it to my sister, who was coming to visit me, so that she could bring it with her.
I think I made this tank right after my sister’s visit, because I had already bought this awesome striped rib knit, and I was eager to try out the pattern.
This is such a quick sew. I made the size 14, since that’s closest to my measurements, and I made no changes since the pattern is already really long so that you can tuck it into pants.
I am happy with how the stripes lined up on the sides, and this fabric has the perfect stretch percentage. I don’t really like wearing close fitted things, but this fabric is so nice and doesn’t feel constricting. It’s so comfortable to wear, and I’m so happy I made it in time for summer.
When I was looking at the PDF pattern on her site, I noticed that at the bottom of the page Allie has a bunch of video tutorials and hacks for the Kila Tank, so I’m excited to try some of those soon. I have some black jersey that would be nice to make up as the swing style tank she has a video tutorial for.
