We had our first Lisbon Sewist Meet-Up a year ago, and I met so many other amazing sewists in the area. One of them was Susana who is the sweetest person, and she’s also a really great pattern designer. She mainly designs children’s clothing, and her patterns are all available at Suco by Susana on Etsy.

She was kind enough to let me choose one of her patterns to send to me and make for one of my kids. So, although it took way to long for me to finally make this adorable top for Vanessa, I’m excited to be sharing it today!

This is the Fragola Top (sizes 12mo to 14 yrs). A year ago, I had this fabric all cut out and ready to go, but then I got distracted with something else I wanted to sew, and this got put in the corner of my desk. I’m honestly so bad at wanting to sew kids’ clothes. Luckily, Vanessa was very excited when she saw me sewing it together, and that helped me feel more motivated to finish it. She was a little confused and asked me why it wasn’t a dress, so I told her I would make the dress for her next time.

The pattern is so beautiful and came together really nicely. I always feel a little bit of dread when it comes to gathers, but since it was so much smaller than the things I sew for myself, it was so much quicker and easier! The instructions and photos were very clear on what to do, and that’s always nice.

When I was finished sewing this and showed it to Vanessa, she squealed and wanted to put it on immediately! That made it all worth it, and I can definitely see myself making more of these for her in the future.

This beautiful block print cotton is left over from a Roscoe Blouse that I made for myself, and I am always looking for ways to use the rest of it so that it doesn’t go to waste! So far, it’s been perfect for this shirt and the lining of some bags I made for myself. Vanessa is very excited for us to have a matching moment soon!

Thank you for reading my blog today, and happy sewing! xoxo

  1. Vanessa looks so cute in that shirt. She loves me-mades. It fits her so nicely! It might be time for another twirly dress. ๐Ÿ’•

    1. Thanks Grandma! She really does love me-mades. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think I’ll eventually make her a dress for next summer.
