What song are you most grateful for?
I have a whole playlist on my iTunes literally labeled “positive mix”, because I am the bomb at mix playlists (formerly mix CDs). It has uplifting Christian and gospel (Your Love – Brandon Heath, I Can Only Imagine – Mercy Me, Overcomer – Mandisa), empowering hip hop/pop (Hall of Fame – The Script, Invincible – Kelly Clarkson, Fight Song – Rachel Patton), and soundtrack songs from seriously awesome movies (I’m Still Here – ‘Treasure Planet’, Through Heaven’s Eyes – ‘Prince of Egypt’, The Living Proof – ‘The Help’).
Oh my love for this playlist.
But honestly, one of my favorite songs is an LDS hymn titled “Because I Have Been Given Much”. It is the perfect reminder to me of all of the things I have been blessed with, and the reason I have been so blessed is to share what I have with others.
The song was written by Grace Noll Crowell, and one of my favorite verses says – I shall give love to those in need. I’ll show that love by word and deed, thus shall my thanks be thanks indeed.
It’s easy to point out all of the things that went wrong in a day and feel like we aren’t very blessed sometimes, but what about everything that went right in a day? I was listening to a podcast the other day and the guy talking was saying how we define our good days and bad days based on how many bad things happened that day.
On those days I think it’s nice to pray or meditate and think of all of the good things in our lives or things that went right that day. It can really turn your view around.
I feel like I am so blessed, and I know there are plenty of things I can do to lighten the load of those around me. We were put on this earth to help each other, after all. Maybe even just sharing some good music can help brighten someone’s day. 🙂
So what song are you most or grateful for? What has gone right in your day?

“How Great Thou Art” comes to mind. I was pretty happy when this well know christian song became part of the LDS hymnbook in 1985.
That’s a good one Dad. 🙂 Thank you for sharing.
