Hello! It been a while since I’ve blogged, and it feels good to be back… at least for a minute. I’ve been taking a little bit of a break to learn Portuguese, focus on my health (mental and physical), and be a little more present at home.

I still have SO much fabric that I’m excited to sew, but I have a whole closet full of clothes, and I’m not in a rush to sew everything. I also noticed that I have a really hard time stopping and starting projects, so I tend to spend as much time as it takes to finish a project, and a lot of things get put on the back burner.

If that feels familiar, know that you’re not the only one! I don’t have a solution, but it felt good to be back at my machine for sew a couple of things this week, including this beautiful new pattern.

This is the Tilly pattern by Sew Lala. If you’re looking for a really nice wide-leg pants and shorts pattern with pockets, these are it! The pattern has a few different length options and two different elastic waist options. You can make the pattern with woven fabrics or knit depending on what you’re going for.

I opted to make the shorts with the narrow waistband for my tester version. I made the size 10, which matches up with my body measurements. If you know me, you know I prefer things more mid-rise. So, I shortened the rise by 3cm and made the same adjustment to the pocket pieces.

This fabric is a cotton spandex that is really stable and a little more mid-weight. These are so comfortable for wearing around the house. I would probably even wear them out during the warmer months.

Anna always goes above and beyond with her patterns, and they are in English and German. She includes projector files in black or white if you have a projector for cutting. The instructions and illustrations are very detailed and simple to follow, even for a beginner.

This is the perfect basic for pants and shorts, and I’m looking forward to making more of these in the future, probably in a nice linen next. The Tilly pattern is 20% off for the next week.

Thank you for reading today’s blog post and happy Tilly sewing!
