I took a little bit of a break from blogging last week because we went on a family vacation. First, we flew to Barcelona, Spain and then went on a cruise around the Mediterranean.
I was kind of stressed before we left, so I didn’t put as much effort into my vacation wardrobe as I wish I would have. But I did wear me-mades most of the days, so that was nice.
I also didn’t put a lot of effort into getting amazing photos of my outfits, but I got at least one each day that shows the reality of going on a trip with kids in the middle of the boiling hot summer. Most of the days were above 90F/30C and it was SO humid. Dressing “cute” wasn’t always my highest priority – surviving was. Haha.
I finished sewing a dress, two swimsuits, and a pair of natural-colored Essential Shorts, but I didn’t get photos of the dress and swimsuits while we were there. I did get photos at home though, so I’ll be blogging about those very soon!
The outfits and a photo from each day are all below with little captions of what patterns I’m wearing and what is in the photos. They are in chronological order.

Genoa, Italy

Pisa, Italy

Rome, Italy

Mallorca, Spain

It was an amazing experience, and we were so lucky to have my husband’s mom and grandma with us for the whole trip. They watched our kids while we were in Genoa and Rome because the heat was just too much for them (and sometimes for us).
I highly recommend a trip like this NOT in the middle of summer. My MIL came on a similar cruise last year in February and although it was around 50F/10C, that sounds much more bearable for us. We’ll definitely plan future trips to southern Europe closer to spring/autumn times.
We’re all very happy to be home now, even though we all have a little bit of a summer cold that I think we all got from my daughter at the beginning of the trip. But now that I have some down time, I’m hoping to have another blog post out later this week with one of my newest makes.
We’ve been in Portugal for over two years now and it was exciting to finally see other countries in Europe. It still feels a little surreal that I was in Italy just a few days ago!
It’s so fun to have trips to look forward to. Do you have a vacation coming up that you’re excited about?
Thank you for being here and I hope you have a great day.

Thank you for sharing your adventure. I find your sewing makes very inspiring.
That’s so nice of you to say, Sharon! Thank you π
Tori, I just love reading your take on the places you visit. Your clothes look great! It sounds like you made the best choices, considering the weather… better to leave kids with relatives when they don’t appreciate the wonderful places you are seeing. Love you, Grandma Frame
Thanks Grandma! I’m so glad that I made good choices on what to pack, too. I think we learned that the kids will only care about pools and parks until they are old enough to appreciate other places. π Love you!
Sounds like a good trip even with the heat. Looks like you dressed appropriately for the weather. Relax and enjoy the rest of your summer.
Thanks Alice! I think so too. I’m really looking forward to being home to enjoy the places around us for the rest of the summer. I hope you are enjoying your summer too. π
